Nersel Muehlen


Nersel is a classical oil painter and a member of the Art Renewal Center, Portrait Society of America, Women Painters of America and Oil Painters of America. Her studio is located in Brooklyn, NY. Nersel's creative work includes photorealistic portrait paintings, paintings inspired by travel photos, ethnic costumes, different cultures, and faces from around the world. Her signature is painting “soulful eyes” with empathy, curiosity and love.
Nersel grew up in Istanbul, Turkey and moved to the US when she was 23. She has been drawing as long as she can remember. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and two Masters Degrees. After a 15 year career in the business world, she has decided to leave her day job to pursue creative arts-in various forms and “live art”. Over the years she has taken design, drawing and art classes at the New York Academy of Art, Fashion Institute of Technology and the Parson's School of Design at The New School in New York City. She has been training with award winning master artists in the “old masters’ technique of oil paintings” for the past ten years. Nersel teaches private oil painting classes in Brooklyn, NY and she is also a Certified Art Therapist.
